How to Calculate Concrete Volume in Cubic Meters
For a rectangular concrete element, volume in cubic meters is length × width × thickness or depth, with all dimensions entered in meters.
Volume (m³) = length (m) × width (m) × depth (m) × quantity
Worked example: slab
A slab measuring 5 m by 4 m and 0.15 m thick has a geometric volume of 5 × 4 × 0.15 = 3.00 m³.
Worked example: footing
Three identical footings, each 1.5 m × 1.5 m × 0.6 m, total 3 × 1.5 × 1.5 × 0.6 = 4.05 m³.
Common errors
Convert millimeters to meters before multiplication; 150 mm equals 0.15 m. Account separately for voids, overlaps, waste, and construction tolerances when required.
